Made from Tencel - or better known as Wood Fiber, our biodegradable range has plenty of upsides, without losing the quality, or sharpness you have come to love from Curry Ribbons.
Unlike ECO-Ribbon, our Biodegradable ribbon focuses on its ability to break down once the ribbon has been discarded.
ECO-ribbons are usually made using recycled materials such as plastic bottles. This means there is still some difficulties breaking down the ribbon after use, still having an environmental impact. Our wood fiber range breaks down once buried in soil, with about 90% of the ribbon being converted to CO2 within 60 days, meaning minimal environmental impact once you have finished utilizing these ribbons.
Tencel Fiber?
Tencel Fiber - or Wood Fiber, is a brand of Austria’s “LENZING Group”. It is similar to polyester, but much more environmentally friendly.

What is it made from?
Our Biodegradable range is made from 100% wood fiber.
How is it made?
The extraction and production of the fibers comes from plant ecology. The wood is pulped and the fibers made. The fibers then get produced into yarn, which is then manufactured into fabric for our ribbons.
What are the advantages?
It is biodegradable, meaning approximately 90% converts to CO2 within 60 days of being buried in soil! It also has high fiber strength (more than normal rayon and nearly as strong as polyester!) and superior Hygroscopicity (fancy way of saying it is durable and has the ability to be washed!).
Can you print on the Biodegradable ribbon?
Absolutely. The quality we have seen from our foil printing on this ribbon has been great.
Will the range be expanding?
We surely hope so! We are currently trialing 4 colours in 16mm width. Over time we will continue introducing more of the range, which when full will consist of around 14 colours in 3 different sizes.
